About Alaska Women Ascend
Alaska Women Ascend is a non-profit, volunteer-driven organization that provides comprehensive training for progressive women from diverse communities to serve as candidates, staff, and volunteers.
We train women who are pro-choice, pro-LGBTQ rights, pro-union, anti-racist and pro-racial justice. We accept those who identify as a woman and/or are gender-expansive (e.g., two-spirit, non-binary, gender-fluid, etc.) regardless of sex assigned at birth.
AWA has trained over 400 women across the state of Alaska and for the first time in Alaskan history, women make up the majority (21) in the Alaska State House of Representatives. Since we started in 2017, of the 10 new women 60% ARE AWA GRADUATES!!

Join us October 10–12 for an intensive, hands-on program that prepares women across Alaska to run, lead, and win. Whether you’re planning to run for office, support a candidate, or manage campaign finances — we’ve got a track for you.

Since 2017, nearly 400 women have completed AWA training—and gone on to serve as legislators, mayors, assembly members, nonprofit leaders, activists, campaign professionals, and more.
